Candy Skull- Dia de los Muertos

Day of the dead is a festival celebrated in central and southern Mexico. This festival has provided inspiration for lots of home decor and the colours and vibrancy of these add interesting detail to any home. I picked up this great cushion from Linen House for $34.95 (including insert) featuring the Candy skull. Also love this stunning wall decals by RespectPrinting. They are $15 and can be used and removed as desired. A far better option than painting on your walls especially in rentals.

Scandinavian

Scandinavian style is such a breath of fresh air. The designs are all about clean lines and beautiful details. This awesome lamp really gets its personality from its details with a simple yet effective design. It reminds me of a little wooden robot. Its a steal for $78 AUD and the wing nuts are moving parts so this lamp is adjustable. It provides even soft lighting perfect for reading, working at a desk or simply as a design accent in a living space. Visit Paladim on Etsy to grab yours. Each one is handmade to order so you can be assured of its quality.

Kran V Lamp $78
Also loving RetroJan that features furniture on The Block Australia. I noticed this little fuss free side table and automatically began to visualise it in my bedroom. The Felix Scandinavian Side table is just  $249. This piece is timeless and will fit into any setting with its simple design.

Ropes

Ropes are a great way to add an earthy texture to a room. I love these tasselled garlands from The Family Love Tree for $99 each. These make great wall hangings and will be available soon online. I love the assortment of organic and natural pieces that the Family Love Tree offers.

I also adore the amazing creations of a designer in the UK who produces many lighting fixtures, among those are the Decorative Nautical Sisal Rope Eco Glass Globe for $114.94 AUD. This supplier ships worldwide and features sturdy rope to make sure your stunning lighting stands the test of time. These would look amazing as a stand along lighting fixture in the middle of a living room. I would also place these as a reading light against the wall of a bedroom or living space using a rustic wooden sconce as the rope would look great wrapped around the sconce.

If your looking to add some 'cute as a button' country chic to your home, you cannot go past these slouchy little baskets from Nakedstitch for $51. Cute and useful for storage of anything from office stationary, hand towels in your bathroom, or even toilet rolls in the loo. These little beauties are handmade from 100% natural jute rope.

These pretty macrame plant hangers are also a great way to bring the outside in. They are made by an Australian team of ladies in Byron Bay and make a pretty amazing gift. I have seen these hangers used in a variety of ways. They look lovely with little polished copper planters in them as well as with the featured glass bowl. What a great way to display freshly cut flowers, succulents or even fake plants that are a 'no fuss' option! These are very affordable at $29.95. They even sell DIY kits with all the bits and bobs you need to make them yourself if your a bit handy. Check out MacramakeByronBay for these

Deers

Raw beauty is amazing. One of the design accents I have noticed recently is Deers. I really like the faux deer heads that I found on Etsy at Hodi Home Decor. These cost $111 AUD each and come in several colours (Hodi Home Decor also has the cutest little animal figurines in the most amazing neon colours). If your not looking to post a deer on your wall, wall decals and prints are also a great way to achieve this trend. The Noble Owl, a Bulgarian seller on Etsy, has a fantastic deer head print for $17 AUD. Another option is to introduce the deer print with a cushion. There is one awesome cushion slip I found at Butterflyandbear which is $30 which incorporated both the deer, and the geometric trend.

Edison Bulbs

The warehouse/industrial trend has given us cafes that are adopting the most amazing lighting fixtures. I absolutely love the edison style hanging bulbs. Edison bulbs have a filament that creates the design feature in itself. These can be hung in a row or, as I have seen, as a little cascading chandelier. An individual light bulb pendent works just as well. I found some for a great price on Ebay for just $24. This Ebay shop also sells all the necessary fixtures to complete the look. The edison bulbs also come in several shapes and sizes. There are also companies that use recycled mason jars and any other glass jar or container you can think of. These come in different colours. The use of coloured cords can be a statement. White can be used to keep the look understated and minimalist.

These beautiful light bulbs offer the best of both trends. Combining the nautical and the edison bulb trend. They are just a little bit different from the ordinary and add a modern edge this trend. They are $89.78 AUD from LukeLampCo

Geometric Design

Geometric prints are very popular right now. For me, cushions are the way to go to achieve this trend without breaking the bank. I love the 'Digital Triangle Print' cushion from Oliver Bonas which is only $36.94. Loving all the unique furniture and Decor this website has to offer!

I am also loving Geometric Paper lanterns. I found one that is simple, classic and affordable on Etsy made by a team of creative ladies in Portugal. They are $69 each and you can even select your choice of pastel stripe color. Available at https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/168990292/handmade-origami-lighting-polar-white?ref=listing-shop-header-0. I also fell in love with the Copper tones of Jutta's MAKE A WISH origami lampshade pendant satin-copper. For $129 AUD you can add a seriously luxe tone to your living space. These shades are low maintance and effortless cool. https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/112192178/make-a-wish-origami-lampshade-pendant

Crosses blanket

I have been obsessing about the swiss crosses style blanket/throw that is popular right now. The crux throw became popular in the 1990's. Currently there are many out there and they range in price. I'm trying to achieve this trend on a budget. My two favorite finds are the Eco cross baby blanket found at http://www.spearmintlove.com/eco-cross-baby-blanket-black-cream/ for $80. Come in a range of colors so this trend can match your decor.

I have paired the Portland throw from Adairs that is $99 (also available in yellow/cream, teal/cream) with a faux fur Montana cushion in grey wolf and a marle grey textured oblong cushion. I have also paired this with an amazingly soft jersey cotton quilt cover. This achieves the organic look with a hint of interest with the crosses throw.

Tolix stools

Nothing says style like mod furniture! Replica furniture lets you have all the class without the price tag! These galvanised stools can even be used outside. I found them at catch of the day for $55 each. The polished concrete and splatter paint floor covering, stainless steel fridge and an ikea decorative bowl are a good compliment to the tolix stools.

Bamboo

Bamboo isn't a new product but it's suddenly become allot more popular. I've seen anything from sheets to underwear. Bamboo can be very stylish and affordable in the home! Bench tops and tables add a contemporary touch and a beautiful simplicity.

Life: Inside and Outside

Succulents in tiny wooden pastel planters! need i say more? these are so cute. Succulents are the perfect low maintenance plant for those, like me, who lack green thumbs. These can sit on window sills or stay outside and are just too damn cute on coffee tables! You can even put fake plants in these. I found these cute set of little planters on Etsy for $35. The producer of these also makes a range of wooden decor. https://www.etsy.com/au/transaction/142367098.

For the more ambitious gardener Terrariums are becoming super popular as well, and as I discovered, are the perfect gift for the discerning gardener. Put simply, Terrariums are tiny little gardens in glass containers. These quite happily exist inside and need very little water. I found this terrarium for a steal at Ezibuy for $30.

Skandinavian Style

Contention over the true name of this shade aside, 'Teal' green is making a splash. I prefer to pair this shade with greys as a feature. I found this amazing replica sofa on gumtree. I know this sofa is also available from suppliers of replica furniture throughout Australia for around $1000. I am in love with the mod inspired sofa as well as the Scandinavian inspired pieces that are popping up in stores throughout Australia, such as this adorable side table. I found this 46cm Tripod side table from Adairs. The Tripod table also comes in a 56cm size in indigo, white, orange and yellow.

Copper Design Accents

Copper home wares are the hottest trend right now. Pair then with pastels to add a cute and fresh look. Pair them with chunky knit neutral throws, textiles and charcoal as a luxe element that adds a little glamor to the room. Products made from copper include vases, mugs and light fixtures. Copper comes in many forms and can range from ultra polished to reflective and can fit into a range of settings. One word of warning. I prefer to keep copper as an accent! With an entirely copper themed room there may be a risk of the room becoming a little too full on!
